Wilkes Court (Mar04)

Wilkes Court: Sir Maurice Wilkes built and operated the first real electronic computer, which could do useful calculations using a true program. The computer was known as the EDSAC. This stands for Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Calculator. The general principles of the EDSAC still govern most computers today. The EDSAC was built at Cambridge University and was completed in 1949.
