The Woolnoughs

The Woolnoughs: – For many years Mrs Woolnough ran the Village Post Office on Main Road (now Bairstow Eves). Coupled with this business she had a sideline of second hand clothing. Many times one would have to wait to purchase a stamp when a likely sale of clothing was underway. At a later stage her son joined in the business and eventually took over. Peter was also quite a character, in that time didn’t matter and the hours of opening were never regular, but the post always seemed to get delivered as the sorting office for Kesgrave was in a shed at the rear of the property. He eventually retired to live in Martlesham and the post office was taken over by Mr Bloomfield.
