A1214 Alterations (SCC Responsibility)

Suffolk County Council is the responsible authority for roads.

Suffolk County Council is the responsible authority for roads.

Kesgrave was denied a bypass in 1994 following a Public Inquiry and Kesgrave Council have subsequently worked hard at achieving some improvements to Kesgrave’s Main Road to alleviate conditions for Kesgravians.

Many alterations have taken place including improved right turn lanes into the many side roads and improvements to the cycle/footway. These were completed in 1999.

Many people passing through the community do not realise how vital access on to Main Road is to residents and view it as a bypass. With well over half the population unable to reach their homes without travelling on this road this is clearly a road through our community not past it.

Accident prevention measures have been implemented at the Bell Lane/A1214 junction and improvements on the section between Bell Lane and Ipswich have been carried out.
